One night last week for dinner, I made Carrot hot dogs. That’s right! You heard me correctly….Carrot hot dogs! They were delicious!!! It took over 24 hours until they were ready to eat (they need to marinate for 24 hours), but they were well worth it!!
Ingredients:
4 Large Carrots (peeled, ends cut off)
1/2 cup Tamari, or any g-free soy sauce
1/2 cup water
2 TBSPS Tahini oil (the top oil that rests on top of Tahini)
3 TBSPS Bragg’s Apple cider vinegar
1 tsp liquid smoke
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1/2 tsp dried ginger
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1/4 tsp onion powder
olive oil
g-free hot dog buns
Directions:
- Boil Carrots 6-8 minutes or until it’s tender with a fork test. You don’t want these mushy. Remove carrots & run them under cold water to stop cooking process. Whisk together tamari, water, vinegars, tahini sesame oil, liquid smoke, garlic & seasonings.
- Combine carrots & marinade in a gallon zipper bag. Shake gently until carrots are coated. Put it in the fridge for 24 hours.
- When ready to cook, oil the skillet with the olive oil & put on medium heat to cook them. Add the carrots & 1/2 of the marinade.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes until carrots are warm & browned a bit. Place on a g-free hot dog bun & Enjoy!!
The Flavoring on these “hot dogs” are so similar to real hot dogs & they even look like hot dogs!! Let me know if you try them & what you think! 🙂
