Winter Splendor

So, here we are. February. Six more weeks of Winter, according to Punxatawnee Phil. I’m cool with that! (No pun intended). It’s quite cold here in New England, but ever so pretty to look out my windows and see the beauty of Mother Nature during the season! I embrace every season, but what I love about Winter is that I get to give myself more permission to rest and relax, to cozy up by the fire and enjoy a hot cuppa homemade hot cocoa or herbal tea and read a book or play board games with my husband and son. We all get to take time for ourselves, especially in the time we’re in now. There are times for Winter walks in nature and breathing in the cold crisp air every now and again as well. What’s especially pretty, is watching the snow fall while walking through the forest in all it’s beauty in the contrast of colors and the quietness of the woods, maybe an occasional bird or animal rushing by.

Some of the things I like to do in the Winter:

-Read (more than usual)

-Decorate for the holidays and Winter

-Take walks

-Build a snowman (Yep, I still do that!)

-Take drives

-Listen to music (I like discovering new music too, but Jazz is my go-to)

-Cook and Bake

-Journal

-Decorate (oops, did I already say that?) Well, it is my favorite activity! 😃

-Write letters to those I’m thinking of

-Take a course or a quick seminar

-Enjoy Big Saturday breakfasts with my husband and children, couple of times a month

-Online shop

-Take relaxing, long baths with epsom salts and essentail oil

-Organize the house

-Plan my Garden for Spring & buy seeds

-Virtually visit with extended family & great friends

-Sleep in on occasion

-Watch old movies

-Dance around the house while singing loudly

-Pamper myself

*These are just some of the things I enjoy doing during the Winter. What are some things you enjoy in this season? Hope everyone is staying healthy and safe and enjoying this beautiful season! Enjoy “Me” time, relax and rejuvenate.

You can find a delicious recipe on this blog from a past post for hot cocoa. Some of my favorite herbal teas are peppermint, chamomile, dandelion leaf, ginger & honey (with or without a dash of cinnamon), and lemon balm. There are plenty of other yummy flavors; these are just some of my favorites.
